In this paper we will present some reflections and more important findings from international research (2019) “Impact and legacy of mega-events: The youth olympics games in Buenos Aires - The case of Comuna 8”, funded by the Centro Latinoamericano-Svizzero, Universitat St. Gallen, Switzerland and based in IDAES, University of San Martin, Argentina.

Taking up the theories of Mezzadra and Neilson, the YOG 2018 will be focused as an "operation" within a broader process in which logistics, finance and extractivism move capital flows and the circulation of people, merchandise, technologies and projects in global cities.

The project, construction and current management of the Olympic District will be analyzed as part of public policies aimed at renovating the southern part of the city, housing and the right to habitat, in order to deepen, in particular, the concepts of "integration / exclusion "," urban extractivism" and financialization of life.
